What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometrist - Part Time (16 Hours per week) position at Muckleshoot Indian Tribe?
JOB SUMMARY
The Optometrist is the primary provider of vision care. Examines and diagnoses vision difficulties or diseases of the eye. Tests and prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses, and other medical treatments.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION
Required:
- Must have a Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry school. With successful completion of a one year postgraduate clinical residency program.
- Must pass a written National Board examination and state clinical examination.
- Washington state Doctor of Optometry license in good standing with no actions taken.
- Five (5) years’ experience in a physician or group practice in optometry.
Preferred:
- Member of the American Ophthalmic Association.
- Vitreal- Retinal Residency.
SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Knowledge of:
Ophthalmic Dispensing, Contact Lens Theory, Ophthalmic Laboratory, Contact Lens Fitting, Optical Office and Business Management.
Skilled in:
Customer Service -Enjoys dealing with the public, cheerfulness, tact, good communications skills and the ability to inspire customer/patient confidence. Detail oriented. Prompt and dependable
Ability to:
Properly document patient charting with electronic health records system.

The employee is occasionally required to walk, crouch, bend at the waist, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to grasp, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
