About You as a Litigation Associate
As a Litigation Associate at Mudd Law, you will work with the entire team in representing our litigation clients. This will involve representing individuals and entities in litigation that, depending on the circumstances, could involve our clients being either plaintiffs or defendants in either state or federal court (and, sometimes both).

Specific to this role, we seek someone who can demonstrate an exposure to and interest in litigation at both the state and federal levels. More substantively, you should possess litigation experience that includes drafting complaints, motions, and discovery. It would be a significant advantage for you to also possess deposition and trial experience.
You must have exceptional communication, research, and writing skills. You need to be able to create and submit your best work, yet be open to positive criticism and editorial comments. You should not fear red ink, as we work collaboratively to produce the best quality product possible. You must be able to understand novel concepts and think "outside the box."
You must possess time management skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This includes experience contemporaneously tracking your time on a daily basis.
About the Litigation Associate Position
This litigation associate position offers you the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and cutting-edge legal issues. Our clients include businesses within the aerospace, software, challenge course, and film industry. They include startups, established entities, local businesses, and multinationals. Our cases often involve highly sensitive matters that require immediate action and responsiveness. The nuanced issues often present novel situations requiring creative application of legal principles. The cases will be predominantly Internet and technology based. As such, candidates must enjoy technology and know how to use the Internet effectively.
Although the position will be predominantly litigation based, assignments will also involve exposure to transactional and intellectual property matters.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position offers compelling opportunities in which you will:

- Research diverse and novel legal issues
- Navigate various court and jurisdictional rules
- Attend court hearings
- Draft myriad litigation documents including demand and litigation hold letters complaints; motions of simple and complex structure; discovery; deposition outlines voir dire; and, other trial related documents
- Participate in some transactional matters
- Convey to the team what you learn through CLE
- Participate in general business and professional development

Familiarity with time tracking software such as Amicus Attorney
Understanding of Microsoft Word, iCalendar, and cloud-based software
Understanding of electronic filing and court dockets
Familiarity with Lexis Nexis and PACER
Email etiquette
Creative thinker and writer
Time management skills and ability to work and respond to current and changing events in a past paced environment
Education and Experience
J.D. required, licensed in Illinois a must, additional license in Texas a bonus
5 years of experience in litigation
Law review and legal experience in social media will weigh in your favor
