Overview
Mudhouse Coffee Springfield has more than doubled our coffee roasting in just two short years and we’re looking for continued growth. We’ve been around for 26 years, roasting for 25 and are a downtown Springfield, Missouri staple. We’re looking to continue to bring our customers the highest quality, best-tasting coffee in the area, while simultaneously growing our wholesale/online business. We currently use a Deidrich IR-12 with Artisan roasting software and are ready to upgrade to a larger roaster.
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head Coffee Roaster to help oversee our roasting operations and help expand our wholesale/online business. We're currently roasting about 500lbs a week. As the Head Coffee Roaster, you will play a crucial role in creating exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. You will be responsible for creating high quality roasts, fulfilling online orders and sourcing/maintaining new wholesale partners. Duties
Oversee and manage general roasting operations at our Roasting Center.
Roast coffee with passion and precision using current roasting profiles while simultaneously creating new ones.
Work closely with the Leadership Staff to achieve company goals.
Purchase, prepare and manage green beans.
Assist all staff related to production. (1 part-time assistant will be put in place)
Use scales and sealers to package roasted beans.
Fulfill in-store, online and and wholesale orders.
Understand shipping costs and procedures to ensure we are thrifty in shipping beans.
Train staff on the origin, farm and flavor profiles and how to best brew our beans.
Clean protect and maintain all Roasting Center equipment.
Maintain accurate records of roast profiles, inventory levels, production data and quality control measurements.
Lead cuppings with staff and customers.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years coffee roasting experience with vast industry knowledge.
Have an in-depth knowledge of coffee varieties, origins and flavor profiles.
Willingness to contribute to a positive work environment and support team goals.
Ability to consistently produce high-quality coffee by maintaining control over roast profiles.
Must have acute, sensory evaluation skills for tasting and evaluating coffee.
Strong collaboration and communication skills are a must in order to work effectively with other team members.
Must be able to repetitively lift and move objects up to 150 pounds without assistance.
