Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join our team. As a History Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. Your role will involve teaching English language and literature, as well as developing students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
*We are a Private Christian Academy. We are joined with Mulberry Church of God. We use the Christian-based curriculum, Abeka. Through this curriculum, lesson plans are provided for you. We do not offer benefits. A bachelor's degree is required; it does not necessarily have to be in education, however, that is a plus. Pay starts at $6oo per week (before taxes are taken out), depending on qualifications .
Teachers are required to arrive for their professional duty at 7:20 AM, Monday-Friday.
Every Wednesday there is chapel in the church sanctuary. Teachers rotate in sharing a message each week.
There are 2 professional development requirements in October and November. There is also an academic requirement in February or March to attend.
This position will begin January 2, 2025.
Duties:
- Plan and deliver Abeka History lessons
- Lesson plans are already provided for you through the Abeka curriculum
- Use effective teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth
- Foster a positive Christ-centered classroom environment that promotes respect
- Utilize learning technologies to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Monitor student progress and be in communication with parents regarding their student's progress
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement educational initiatives/incentives
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current. There are two professional development events that are required.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong knowledge of English language, literature, and grammar
- Proficient in classroom management techniques to create an effective learning environment
- Knowledge of academic advising principles to support student success
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on educational initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree of any kind, in education is a plus
- Teaching certification or licensure is a plus
- Previous experience teaching is preferred
