Mulberry School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten Teacher to join our educational team for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in childhood development and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment. This role involves implementing a curriculum that supports the growth of young learners, utilizing effective classroom management techniques, and promoting physical education activities. The Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten Teacher will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences of children, ensuring they are well-prepared for their academic journey.
Our teachers have the autonomy to create engaging lesson plans while adhering to state standards, and a classroom and curriculum budget will be provided for your use. Our unique Junior Kindergarten program offers a two-year transitional experience leading to first grade, where students are exposed to Common Core skills daily without the pressure of mastery. This class will consist of Junior Kindergarten students integrated with our Kindergarten students, creating valuable peer mentoring and modeling opportunities.
Our whole-child led Kindergarten program emphasizes play-based learning, reflecting our belief that children thrive when given opportunities to explore, play, and develop social skills. The well-rounded curriculum includes Literacy, Math, Science, and Social Studies, complemented by weekly Music, Art, and Spanish classes. Additional classes could be offered throughout the year based on parent support.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational standards.
- Utilize play-based, hands-on methods to enhance learning experiences and promote independent thinking.
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management strategies.
- Educate students on foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum development initiatives that enhance overall educational quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively while maintaining a supportive learning environment.
