Automotive Production Line Technician

Production Line Technicians work in production factories and assembly lines and may have a specialized role in the manufacturing and assembly of an item such as installing fasteners or connecting wires. Your goal will be to maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations, allowing you to safely operate heavy machinery and use resources appropriately. Production Line Techs aim to be as efficient and consistent as possible when putting together a product. You will perform inspections to ensure all product and assembly meets standards set forth in work instructions.
Responsibilities (Included but not limited to):
· Understand, support, and execute all work in a safe manner and supply to a culture that promotes safety as its overriding priority.
· Perform bench, floor, or conveyor assembly work, usually of short cycle duration, and involving standardized work elements. Must be able to comprehend and follow written work instructions. Work may involve using hand positioning, assist devices such as hoists, and power tools or other equipment.
· Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.
· Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
· Positions or aligns components and parts, either manually or with hoists.
· Uses hand tools or machines to assemble parts.
· Conducts quality control checks.
· Cleans and maintains work area and equipment, including tools.
· Prepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
· Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
· Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
· Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
· Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· Maintains inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
· Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
· Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
· Must be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
· Report for work on time to support production startup and throughput goals.
· Possess good physical stamina and coordination. Could be required to stand and/or walk for long periods daily while frequently bending, twisting, reaching, and periodically lifting up to 40 lbs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills and qualifications:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Dexterity and hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grasp, manipulate, and assemble parts and components that are often very small.
· Color vision may be required if your company makes electrical and electronic products that include color-coded wiring.

Physical Requirements:
Mobility – Occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and/or the like, must move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight spaces, adjust or move objects up to 49 pounds in all directions, and move about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
Frequently, remain in a stationary position - to include standing, or sitting for prolonged periods, and communicate frequently with others to exchange information.
Lifting – Occasional work that includes moving or transporting small parcels, packages, and other items up to 49 pounds for various needs.
Vision – Must have the ability to observe details at a close range (clear vision at 20 inches or less), a distance range (clear vision at 20 feet or more), a variation of colors (ability to identify and distinguish colors), a peripheral range (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Dexterity – Frequently repetitive and substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Environmental - Frequently exposure to low and/or high temperatures, outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, noisy environments, machinery, enclosed spaces, and hazardous conditions.
Mental - The cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem-solving, and comprehending.
