About the Role:
The Lead Controls Engineer is responsible for programming Muller Technology robot and automation systems, providing support to final test engineers, field service technicians, and customers. This role also involves leading the controls department, distributing workloads among control engineers, and training team members. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering and industrial automation. Responsibilities:
- Automation Programming:
- Develop, troubleshoot, and debug PLC programs using OMRON Sysmac Studio software.
- Program multi-axis Stäubli industrial robots.
- Program TM/OMRON collaborative robots (Cobots).
- Program OMRON Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs).
- System Support:
- Provide support for legacy control systems (Beckhoff) as needed.
- Assist the Final Test department with system support.
- Offer remote support to Field Service Technicians and customers as needed.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the controls team in Switzerland to exchange best practices.
- Organize and manage the workload within the controls department.
- Leads team to meet deadlines.
- Ability to make decisions when necessary.
- Training and Development:
- Train current control engineers on the latest technologies.
- Develop training programs for new and existing control engineers.
- Identify training needs and schedule with Switzerland and automation partners as necessary.
- Mentor new control engineers to align with our programming standards.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, and savvy both in controls programming and electrical schematics.
- Experience with PLCs, industrial communication networks, motion control, and IEC 61131-3 programming preferred.
- Knowledge of control system disciplines, including sensing, machine intelligence, and actuation.
- Experience programming multi-axis robots (Stäubli, ABB, Motoman) is preferred.
- Experience with vision systems is preferred.
- A technical degree is preferred, ideally in controls or electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
- Experience with OMRON Sysmac Studio and Beckhoff TwinCAT software is preferred.
- Ability to work with people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds.
- Develops and enables the team to deliver in a dynamic manufacturing and fast-paced environment.
- Domestic and international travel will be required.
- Reporting to work daily onsite at Muller Technology CO, Inc. with expectation of no less than 40 hours worked weekly.
Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
