Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team. The School Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, facilitate academic advising, and implement behavior management strategies to ensure the well-being of all students.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental health counseling to students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address personal, social, and academic issues.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop strategies for classroom management and student support.
- Assist in standardized testing processes and provide guidance on academic performance.
- Work with child protective services when necessary to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Offer academic advising to help students set educational goals and develop plans for success.
- Monitor student progress and provide interventions as needed to support their development.
- Facilitate workshops on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution, and study skills.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress.
Experience
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong background in mental health counseling, behavioral health, or childhood development.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting diverse learners.
- Experience with academic advising and understanding of standardized testing processes is a plus.
- Ability to provide effective individual and group counseling tailored to the needs of students.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
