We are looking for a Preconstruction Manager to join our growing team. As a Preconstruction Manager, you will be vital to the successful achievement of Mullins Mechanical & Welding’s mission, vision, and strategic initiatives. Reporting directly to the President and working alongside the Preconstruction Director, the Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for managing conceptual estimation, performing take-offs, building material-quantities-labor estimates, and participating in design build meetings. You will lead AutoBid pricing updates and overall database management, participate in go/no-go discussions, and assist with project scope reviews.

Responsibilities
- Promote company culture and vision.
- Ensure appropriate distribution of duties between the commercial & industrial estimation teams.
- Oversee the determination of labor factors to be used for each project opportunity.
- Review other estimators’ work.
- Work with PM to review contract to be sure it meets scope.
- Participate in the Go/No-Go decision-making process.
- Manage the bid calendar to ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify potential value engineering opportunities during the bid process.
- Secure adequate subcontractor pricing coverage for all pertinent trades.
- Assist Business Development and Project Managers in building client relationships.
- Review written/online contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to estimate time, material, and labor for plan/spec projects and/or finished design estimate updates.
- Create Job Estimate folder for each opportunity in estimating software.
- Attend and oversee project hand-off and close-out meeting with the VP of Construction, Estimator, Project Management, Superintendent, Quality Control Manager and Safety Manger.
- Prepare special reports for the executive leadership team through collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Review, analyze, and manage historical cost records for use in future estimates.
Qualifications
- Proficient in AutoBid, FastPipe, or similar estimating software
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, MS Project, Box
- Minimum of eight (8) years commercial/industrial mechanical and/or plumbing experience with a minimum of six (6) years of estimating experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage Estimating team
- Proven ability to build and win large, complex, and competitive bid projects
- Proven ability to track and utilize historical data to improve accuracy, consistency and win rates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and relate well with internal and external project team
