What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grinder Operator position at Multi - Cast?
SUMMARY:
Remove or grind excess aluminum from casting without changing shape of part
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Identify nonconforming parts prior to deburr or grinding and put in clear identified scrap container
· Use correct color code on scrap basket
· Accurately record parts scrapped
· All safety procedures are followed
· Use lock-out / tag-out when changing bits or grinding belts
· Keep guards in place and in correct position
· Grinder:
Remove parting line and remaining gating from casting without changing shape of part
· Up-keep of machine and/or notifying Manager / Supervisor when repairs are needed
· Clean work area at the end of the shift
· Other tasks as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Deburr:
o Only excess material is removed – part shape is not changed
· Grinder:
o Proper amount of casting is ground off – part shape is not changed
· Number of pieces scrapped is accurately recorded
· All safety procedures are followed
· Work area is kept clean
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
· Handle castings of 1 to 5 pounds. Occasionally have castings up to 70 pounds
· Adequate hand strength to deburr parts / grind against wheel
· Constant attention required
· Approximately 90% of time spent deburring / grinding castings
· Visual inspection
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Follow safety procedures including lockout/tagout
· Do not operate any equipment if guards are not in place
· Wear required personal protective equipment
ü Ear plugs (29 NRR or greater)
ü Safety glasses
ü Steel toe boots
Note: dust masks are available if operator chooses to wear one
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.34 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
