Primary Purpose
The goal of the Interventionist is to assist students who have been identified as at risk with reading and math intervention to provide a continuum of support and assists student with attaining grade level mastery.

 

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
• BA/BS degree in Education.
• Appropriate certification in ELAR
• Demonstrated teaching skills.
• Demonstrated collaboration with faculty, staff, students and parents.
• Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Background/knowledge in ELAR/Math intervention strategies/Research Based Instructional Strategies.
• Understanding of up-to-date instructional technology and educational software.
• Ability to work with students with various academic needs
• Good human relation skills.
• Good communication skills.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

 

  1. Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups
  2. Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  3. Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
  4. Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs
  5. Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
  6. Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
  7. Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  8. Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  9. Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress
  10. Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
  11. Provides input for program development
  12. Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  2. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Assist in selection of instructional materials that will best support high quality instruction and improve student outcomes.

Communication

  1. Establish and maintain open communication with parents to ensure they are aware of their student’s progress at all times.
  2. Establish and maintain open communication with students, principals, teachers and other staff.
  3. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  4. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve student outcomes.
  2. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  4. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

 

Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)] Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Posture: Prolonged standing/walking; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, Sensory ability needs - significant; hearing, near vision, peripheral vision color discrimination, depth perception
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise, frequent cold and heat
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours

Salary : $59,350 - $69,485
