The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is seeking to hire SchoolBased Therapists to support the mental health needs of students at a consortium of highquality public charter schools in the Los Angeles community serving students grades TK12. This unique opportunity is being funded by a grant project in collaboration with California State University Northridge and the University of Southern California. At the end of the grant project candidates will be provided opportunities for employment at one of the consortium schools or another public charter school in our Los Angeles Charter School network.
As a SchoolBased Therapist youll provide therapeutic and casemanagement services including conducting mental health assessments and implementing individual behavioral plans. Youll also have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers special education staff and school leadership to ensure the success of youth and families in a publicschool setting. To support a career in schoolbased counselling you will participate in professional development including social thinking trauma informed practices and threat assessment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team to implement behavioral and therapeutic services for students in need of intervention.
- Implement researchbased interventions aligned with the three tiers of the MTSS pyramid including individual group and family therapy as well as case management for identified students.
- Provide coaching and professional development to support school staff in experiencing success with all students.
- Engage caregivers in the educational process providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs and support school teams in providing parent workshops.
- Consult school staff on safety assessments mental health crises and accessing social services.
- Document interventions and provide necessary reports on student progress.
- Participate in regular supervision to enhance practice.
- Support schoolwide social emotional and mental health initiatives
- Engage in schoolwide decision making and strategic planning
- Attend all required meetings including IEPs or Student Success Team meetings as necessary
- Attend professional development workshops as part of the grant project.
- Be open to inquiry collaboration and giving and receiving feedback
