Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate Physical Education teacher with the ability to engage and support all students to promote physical activity among children and young adults. This teacher will lead physical education classes and provide a health elective to all students. Health electives could include instructing nutrition, dance, or healthy lessons.

Teachers at MLC are responsible for fulfilling the goals and objectives of MLC's educational program as described in its charter. This includes preparing and implementing lessons that are engaging and integrated across subject matter, standards-based curriculum development in two languages, classroom and behavior management, and assessment and evaluation. Teachers at MLC commit to professional growth and development and participate fully in opportunities for professional development to improve practice and meet school-wide goals.

Teachers must be committed to preserving the mission, vision, and educational philosophy of the school. This includes collaborating with the school community to maintain a positive learning environment promoting values such as respect, safety, mutual support, motivation, and personal growth. Teachers report to the Principal.

Specific to Physical Education, MLC is seeking an individual who can engage students in grades 6-8 in developing healthy lifestyles by engaging them in daily physical activity and teaching them about health and nutrition.

Qualifications

Must possess a current Single Subject California Teaching Credential, EL Authorized.

Physical Demands :

Candidate must meet the following physical demands to successfully perform the essential functions of the job :

Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, use extremities to lead lessons.

Employee must regularly lift and / or move up to and over 25 pounds of items.

Employee asked to regularly talk and listen.

Employee must have the ability to see close and long distances.
