Accident Centers of Texas (ACT) is a multidisciplinary practice where we provide medical, physical therapy and chiropractic services to personal injury patients. We are looking to add an acute Pain Management Nurse Practitioner (NP) specializes in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with acute pain.
At ACT, the Pain Management Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients experiencing acute pain conditions. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and take detailed patient histories to assess pain levels and the impact on daily life.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and tests to evaluate pain conditions and identify underlying causes.
- Develop individualized pain management plans based on patient assessments, medical history, and evidence-based practices.
- Recommend and perform interventional procedures such as joint, trigger point injections when medically necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about pain management strategies, medication usage, and lifestyle modifications.
- Provide counseling and support to help patients cope with acute pain and improve their quality of life.
- Work closely with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Participate in case conferences and contribute to care planning and decision-making processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including controlled substance prescribing guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
- Stay current with advancements in pain management and incorporate new evidence-based practices into patient care
Must have
- Degree in Nursing with a specialization in Pain Management, Family Practice, or a related field.
- Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a focus on pain management preferred; current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Texas.
- Prior experience in pain management or a personal injury specialty is REQUIRED.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, proficiency in pain management techniques, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and adeptness at patient education and support.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care, including lifting and positioning patients.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
