Description
Multilink Position: Laser Welding Technician
The Laser Welding Technician is responsible for the joining together of steel, aluminum, or stainless steel up to 1/2” thick using a trigger-based laser hand welding machine in accordance with defined guidelines.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintain efficiencies at the established rate for each operation using the – OptX 2kW Handheld Laser Welder
- Choose correct accessories and adjust to the correct machine setting, within set parameters, to achieve welds per project specifications
- In coordination with Quality, verify conformance of finished workpiece to quality specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
- Relay issues related to laser welding process to Supervisor or Engineers for immediate attention
- Accurately post, issue, and receipt production orders in ERP/MRP system via computer or handheld scanner.
- Assist with finishing department projects via grinder, sander, or other various tools as needed
- Exhibit expertise with blueprint reading, and following and interpreting job instructions and specifications
- Participate in preventative and daily maintenance in accordance with defined guidelines
- Communicate effectively with leadership and other team members to complete workflow
- Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and adherence to company policies, processes and procedures
- Demonstrate safety consciousness and follow all safety guidelines
- All other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Prior experience in metal fabrication desired, experience with a laser hand-welding machine preferred
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute dimensioned drawings
- Strong math skills and experience with decimal inch measurements, calculations, and conversions
- General computer skills
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Great organizational and communication skills – written and verbal.
- Experience or training in laser safety a strong plus
- Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.HS Diploma or Equivalent
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-50lbs. frequently
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand, and walk for 1-10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
Work Site Environment
Ability to work in a 55–85-degree Fahrenheit work environment
