Multilink Position: Material Handler & Shipping Coordinator
This position is responsible for leading the process of internal logistics, handling materials such as sub-assemblies and hardware for orders daily for assigned departments ensuring products are organized and picked to correct quantity, length, shape, and orientation according to customer and/or product requirements. The Material Handler & Shipping Coordinator position is responsible for the coordination of inventory and material-based activities, and inventory throughout the building. This position is also responsible for coordinating and processing accurate and timely shipments to customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Guides material handlers and inventory assistants’ daily responsibilities based upon business needs.
- Assists management by training new and existing team, answering team member questions, resolving conflicts, and providing insight into the performance of material handlers and inventory assistants.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
- Oversees and ensures location of materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
- Oversees and maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
- Verifies documentation of materials and supplies disposition by recording inventory real-time transactions that match physical movements.
- Ensures proper packing, labeling, and handling of finished goods of preparing shipments to customers.
- Investigates documents, and reports problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labor to manager.
- Participates in equipment preventative maintenance.
- Must be willing to learn and operate/assemble other equipment/parts.
- Oversees and performs daily maintenance to assigned equipment/work center to keep in proper working order.
- Reads blueprints to ascertain correct specifications and performs in-process inspections, answers questions regarding blueprints and specs as needed.
- Ensures safe movement of materials with forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area using the 5S procedure set up.
- Promotes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures.
- Prepares and oversees finished goods for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
- Maintains statuses of shipments to meet customer and internal guidelines.
- Routes and schedules freight via company 3PL system or other customer route guides.
- Ensures proper packing, labeling, and handling of finished goods when preparing shipments to customers
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent may be required.
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, tape measure, calipers, and other shop drawing aids.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
- Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
- Safety conscious behavior.
- Excellent attendance.
- Ability to work with various types of material handling constraints with guidance.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Work Site Environment
- Ability to work in a 55 – 85 degree Fahrenheit work environment.
Salary : $17 - $20
