The welding shift supervisor is a key member of the welding operational team, the supervisor is accountable for leading the shift in the pursuit of quality product in the welding booths.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Motivate and supervise leads paint line.
- Has a productive positive attitude always refrains from any negativity.
- Provides training of all leads and oversees training of new line staff
- Ensures posting and inventory are accurate and timely following real-time transactions matching physical movements.
- Conducts in-process inspections and verifications of finished parts to ascertain continuous part and process quality conformance.
- Coach and train operators to familiarize them with work center processes and best practice procedures.
- Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor to department manager.
- Has the ability to read blueprints to ascertain correct specifications and perform in-process inspections.
- Can run entire welding department.
- Must be willing to help or operate any open positions when short staff.
- Safely move material using pallet jack.
- Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Promotes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures.
Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent may be required.
- Mig/Tig welding
- Ability to read and understand drawing/print specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
- Safety conscious behavior.
- Must have strong decision-making skills.
- Start-up and shut down of all machines and auxiliary equipment in the department.
- Must have good mechanical knowledge, hands on skills and computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs. frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand, and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Work Site Environment
- Ability to work in a 55 – 85-degree Fahrenheit work environment.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent may be required.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- 5 plus years supervision experience with good leadership and communication skills.
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, tape measure, calipers, and other shop drawing aids.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
- Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
- Safety conscious behavior.
- Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 50 lbs. frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand and walk for 1 10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
