What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Tech Assembly - 1st Shift (Mon thru Fri / 6am to 2:30pm) position at Multilink?
This position is responsible for preparing sub-assemblies and finished products to correct length, shape, and orientation according to customer and/or product requirements using hand and air-powered tools.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Proficient in assembling Fiber optic products and operating equipment involved such as hand tools and/or air powered tools along with in-process testing equipment.
- Ability to perform the 7-step process for assembling fiber. (De-reel, Prep, Connect, Scribe, Polish, Test, Label)
- Identify and select correct tooling/hardware/materials for the job task with setup documents or lead/supervisor assistance.
- Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues.
- Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
- Must be willing to learn and operate/assemble other equipment/parts.
- Perform daily maintenance to assigned equipment/work center to keep in proper working order.
- Has the ability to read blueprints to ascertain correct specifications and perform in-process inspections.
- Has the ability to understand basic wiring diagrams and connection points called out on blueprints or models.
- Safely move material using pallet jack.
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area using the 5S procedure set up.
- Assist other individuals in the area when needed.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Promotes teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to company policies, process, and procedures.
Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent may be required.
- Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, tape measure, calipers, and other shop drawing aids.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
- Understanding and support Company policies and procedures.
- Safety conscious behavior.
- Excellent attendance.
- Ability to work with various types of assembly constraints with guidance.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 50 lbs frequently.
- Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
- Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.
- Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Work Site Environment
- Ability to work in a 55 – 85-degree Fahrenheit work environment.
