SUMMARY:
The Junior Buyer is responsible for the assistance and administration of purchasing requirements and activities to support Production, Maintenance, Plant and Office business demands. Develop and secure commercial contracts with suppliers ensuring the supply of cost effective quality product in a timely manner with no disruption to the day to day operations of the business.
This role reports to the Plant Controller. Responsibilities include planning and coordination of all planned maintenance activities performed at the site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn and understand current restock process to assist with replenishment of consumed items
- Support new initiatives for support software and conversion, as needed, and participate on cross functional launch team
- The role requires intermediate Excel skills and SAP experience
- Assist in determining ordering and stock level requirements related to production, maintenance, tooling spares, assembly spares, facilities maintenance and office supplies
- Assist in developing supply base (reviewed annually) for common components that are consumed on a regular ongoing basis that are required to manage the business. Obtain prices via RFQ templates (E-mail) as requested
- Assist in recommending sources for blanket order issuance in accordance with the approved source council business protocols
- Support Inventory control of central stores items securing contracts that ensure limited inventory carrying costs that safeguards against the loss of production due to part shortages
- Provide accurate documentation to the division for the purposes of issuing spot buy PO’s and annual contract blanket PO’s
- Deliver cost reductions on an ongoing basis in accordance with the annual budget targets
- Document and maintain all supplier contacts for changes relevant to day to day business
- Support entry of orders and new part numbers in (SAP) as needed
- Benchmark on a regular basis key, high use large dollar items
- Ensure suppliers provide as part of the contractual obligations items such as: MSDS sheets for any products ordered, work permits, insurances, waste disposal documentation, etc.
- Ability to identify root cause of emergency purchases to prevent a reoccurrence
- Adopt and practice Kaizen Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts and participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s Degree and/or 2 years’ of related Tool Crib or purchasing experience
- Intermediate Excel functions is required
- Knowledge & use of SAP is required
- Ability to extract, understand and analyze financial data
- The ability to learn how to read and understand engineering drawings
- Ability to develop positive relationships with internal functional groups, suppliers and customers
- Ability to negotiate contracts and agreements
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite, MRP systems) and willing to learn new tools and systems to improve performance
- Self-motivated individual with a positive mental attitude
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and computer manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamental accounting spreadsheets. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, area circumference, volume, interest, commissions, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to analyze data and provide summaries and comparisons.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.

Salary : $48,600 - $61,600
