We have a comprehensive development team supporting Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions while also providing contract engineering services to a variety of outside customers. Multimatic Engineering has design, analysis, electronics, vehicle dynamics and testing capabilities and closely collaborates with in-house prototype and tooling enabling a highly efficient product development process. SimCenter Detroit features the VI-grade DiM250 DYNAMIC Driving Simulator. The simulator has servo electric actuators that provide 9 degrees-of-freedom to the driver cockpit. Its ability to accurately reproduce both high frequency and large displacement motions in longitudinal, lateral and yaw directions makes VI-grade’s DiM250 a unique engineering tool, suitable for evaluating vehicle ride and handling dynamics in the virtual world. Also onsite is VI-grade’s COMPACT Simulator, specifically utilized for verifying model integrity before being implemented on the DiM250.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure simulator systems are operational and ready for customer and internal use
- Contribute to development of leading-edge technologies related to vehicle dynamics simulation and driving simulators, including associated hardware systems, simulator control software, and multibody dynamical modelling
- Maintain professional interface with simulator customers to facilitate simulator sessions and coordination with Multimatic’s greater Engineering teams involved with simulation technologies
- Manage and complete cockpit changes for a highly diversified user base, from motorsport teams to road vehicle manufacturers
- Manage day-to-day scheduling of the SimCenter and associated simulation activities
- Coordinate and execute simulator system upgrades, modifications, system fault resolutions, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including maintenance on energized low and high-voltage components and support equipment
- Prepare maintenance action reports and other support documentation as may be assigned
- Assist Engineering Director, Operations with other duties as may be assigned, including facility/vehicle management, shipping/receiving, inventory control, technical documentation, and administrative procedures
- Maintain working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties are performed in a safe manner
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor degree in a related discipline of Engineering, such as but not limited to Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Robotics, etc.
- Work experience and/or training in real-time dynamical simulation and simulator systems is a strong preference
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, MathWorks MATLAB and Simulink
- Experience with VI-grade software products, Linux operating systems, and Concurrent Real-Time is a strong asset
- Advanced knowledge of electronic and mechatronic systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply hardware and software diagnostic skills toward systematic root cause isolation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all facility users and stakeholders: customers, suppliers, engineers, etc...
- Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage workload
- Ability to thrive in a face-paced, team environment; able to proactively adapt to find solutions and meet deadlines as challenges arise
