What are the responsibilities and job description for the ORCHESTRA TEACHER - (6-12) position at Multiple Buildings?
ANTICIPATED START DATE: 7/1/2025
LOCATION: This is a traveling position between Rogers Middle School and Affton High School.
DETAILS: 9 ½-month professional position (1.0 FTE) for the 2025-26 school year, with paid sick and personal leave. District-provided benefits package that includes health, dental, life and vision insurance.
COMPENSATION: Salary for this position is in accordance with the 2025-26 Teacher Salary Schedule. Placement is determined by education and experience.
JOB SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be part of high-energy and enthusiastic teams of professionals, dedicated to meeting the academic, social and emotional needs of students. Successful candidates are reliable, show initiative, are self-motivated, and self-directed. Must be able to work with all students and staff to provide academic, social and behavior support for the school.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree, prefers a degree in education
- Requires appropriate Missouri teaching certification in Instrumental Music (K-12), prefers additional certification in Vocal Music (K-12)
- Prefers prior orchestra/band teaching experience in a school setting at the secondary level
- Preference for candidates with professional performance experience
- Brass or Woodwind specialist is preferred
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel daily between district schools to fulfill position responsibilities
- Requires the ability to produce engaging lessons
- Requires the ability to listen well and take initiative to solve problems
- Requires strong organizational skills and self-motivation
- Requires the ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population
- Requires the ability to remain flexible & positive with the demands & assignments of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment
- Requires the ability to work independently, use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations
- Requires the ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and interact positively with students, staff, administration, and the community
- Requires the ability to work as a team player, communicate and collaborate with staff and other professionals
- Requires willingness to learn new material and attend professional development, conferences and workshops
