The Field Preventive Maintenance position performs service repairs and preventive maintenance on Multiquip products, primarily on power generation. Providing superior service and representing Multiquip's professional and trusted support known in the industry.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Equipment Care:
Perform preventive maintenance on customer power generation equipment, including tasks such as oil changes, filter changes, coolant drain & fill, load banking, DOT inspections, and overall unit operation testing.
Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain generators and their components.
Maintain supplied tooling and equipment, including the company-provided service vehicle.
Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for necessary jobs.
Documentation and Reporting:
Properly and completely fill out all handwritten and electronic service reports, inspection checklists, and timecards within department guidelines.
Prepare and complete service reports in a precise and timely manner.
Maintain a list of supplies needed to optimize job production.
Segment jobs and order parts accordingly.
Return unneeded parts immediately upon job completion and complete all necessary warranty documentation.
Send completed follow-up forms on a timely basis.
Customer Service and Communication:
Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by demonstrating excellent work ethic, neat appearance, and good communication skills.
Take full ownership of the job and effectively communicate job status to customers and office personnel.
Coordinate and assist the Lead Service Technician and Field Service Managers as needed.
Participate in meetings and training sessions as assigned for the purpose of conveying or gathering information required to perform job functions.
Safety and Accountability:
Use and apply appropriate safety PPE provided.
Work overtime as needed to meet customer expectations and needs.
Be accountable for meeting labor flat rates and delivering quality repairs.
Report inaccurate flat rates and situations when flat rates will not be met to your manager/supervisor.
Ensure that redo's or excessive labor do not exceed 5% of total labor hours worked, and no cases occur where the customer or company's equipment is damaged due to mechanic's neglect or abuse.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or (GED) equivalent;
One year Automotive or Diesel Certification from a technical school; or 2+ Years of experience on similar equipment.
Generator operation, load banking and electrical troubleshooting experience preferred.
Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Be mechanically inclined with the ability to perform high-quality repairs efficiently.
Read and interpret documents, including equipment and environment safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, troubleshooting flowcharts, and equipment service manuals.
Have a strong overall understanding of complex and logical functions.
Technical Tools and Software:
Proficient in using a laptop with a basic level of Windows 10 and Microsoft Office tools.
Independence and Flexibility:
Ability to travel to job sites for repairs and work independently.
Maintain flexible hours, including early or evening shifts, overtime, and overnight travel if needed.
Tooling and Equipment:
Must possess all standard tooling necessary to complete repairs.
Maintain a clean working environment while performing fieldwork.
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting Rate: $28+ a hour (DOE)
Company Vehicle will be provided.
Company Credit Card to cover business-related expenses.
