Position Title: Business Unit Manager / Plant Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Business Unit Manager position is a multi-faceted position, managing others in the roles of Quality / Purchasing / Materials / and Customer Service in the KY warehouse and manufacturing operations. Works with all departments companywide to ensure on time delivery of customer product demand, resulting in 100% customer support and satisfaction. Responsible for the oversight of the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies necessary for the company's operations. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing, distribution, purchasing, outside processing, inventory management and supply chain logistics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- IATF Quality System Knowledge
- Ability to work safely, and to encourage a plant-wide safe working environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of Purchasing / Customer Service roles for MKY distribution operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead a manufacturing operation
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate pricing, and establish relationships to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain
- Implement and maintain inventory management systems and procedures, including barcode scanning and automated replenishment systems, to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost, and initiate corrective actions as necessary
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost savings initiatives, such as vendor consolidation, bulk purchasing, or alternate sourcing strategies
- Monitor and comply with regulatory requirements, such as safety standards, environmental regulations, and import/export laws, related to materials management
- Prepare and present reports to the executive team measuring materials performance, including inventory levels, cost savings, and supplier performance
- Stay informed about industry trends, new materials, and advancements in supply chain technology to continuously improve materials management and customer service processes
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and distribution operations
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge and proficiency in Pareto generation / analysis
- Knowledge and proficiency in MAS 500 applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, anticipate issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain precise inventory records and analyze complex data sets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Proficiency in inventory management software and systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) for data analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of supply chain logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to establish favorable terms and conditions with suppliers
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to materials management
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on identifying and implementing process enhancements to drive efficiency and cost savings
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Four-year college or technical degree desired, with an emphasis in management
- Proven experience in materials management or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Knowledge of procurement processes, inventory control principles, and supply chain management best practices
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
