Summary:
This position is responsible for disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling used components or machinery to restore them to like-new condition, following established procedures and quality standards, often utilizing specialized tools and equipment to identify defects, perform repairs, and test functionality before reassembly and delivery to the customer.
Time Utilization: Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customer’s schedules as overtime may be required. Nominal travel may be involved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Perform all manufacturing requirements associated with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, safety, and controls components. Assemble and install components into high-quality assemblies, often without written assembly instructions. Recondition machine and assemblies to restore them to OEM specifications.
- Conduct and document the initial inspection of equipment to determine the required parts, materials, and labor necessary for refurbishment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and operate a wide variety of packaging and processing machines during refurbishment and testing.
- Test all reconditioned equipment according to the correct standards of safety, performance, and quality.
- Verify the form, fit, and function of the project, conducting early risk analysis to ensure the bill of materials is accurate and complete.
- Recommend changes to the configuration of production items as needed and perform modifications upon supervisor approval. Ensure items not listed on the bill of materials are attached to production orders for proper inventory tracking.
- Complete all documentation to verify and record quality assurance checks, performance testing, machine settings, risk areas, and delivery exceptions. Ensure documentation is properly distributed and filed.
- Follow supervisor directives to execute the refurbishment schedule and ensure the delivery of high-quality OEM reconditioned machines on or before the agreed-upon due date.
- Schedule and track activities in supporting work centers to ensure timely delivery of critical project materials.
- Process orders in SAP, including releasing, confirming, and managing inventory movements.
- Track personal labor absorption to meet manufacturing efficiency goals.
- Adhere to established work schedules and order priorities, while managing time effectively to meet detailed schedule goals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Implement management directives associated with policies, goals and procedures.
- Perform additional manufacturing and production support activities as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma and five years of repair and remanufacturing experience in a production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A high working skill knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and machine shop activities is required. Mechanical and engineering aptitude is needed.
Previous experience with thermoformer (form-fill-seal) and traysealer machines is strongly preferred.
Needs to be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Possesses the ability to work in a team and individual environment, motivation to achieve success, and ability to meet customer deadlines in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to communicate in a team environment. Must be able to interpret and discuss general documents such as dimensional machine layouts, component drawings, written procedures and product information.
Math Ability:
Metric and Standard calculations, basic and advanced measuring techniques, ability to calculate dimensions, percentages, area and volume. Must be able to measure both English and Metric dimensions. Knowledge of resources available to complete these tasks.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to convert component drawings into real finished parts. The ability to make subjective decisions to positively impact production of required components.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, inventory software, manufacturing software, and ERP systems. Manufacturing experience with SAP is a plus.
Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
