The Role
As a Youth Lead Basketball Coach at MAC, you step into a role that goes beyond coaching; it's about fostering leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. From conducting practices to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture, your role contributes to MAC's commitment to providing unparalleled experiences for members.This is a part-time, fully on-site role at our club in Portland, OR.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership: Devise and execute practice plans, set individual and team goals, and actively contribute to the team's growth and success.
Communication Hub: Leverage TeamSnap for effective communication on practice schedules, team updates, and any schedule changes, ensuring seamless coordination.
Player Development: Evaluate and enhance athlete skills, providing constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement. Occasionally, you may lead clinics, group lessons, and private sessions.
Collaborative Coaching: Work in tandem with the Basketball Head Coach to impart essential skills and game strategies, fostering a cohesive coaching environment.
Parent Engagement: Professionally address and respond to parental inquiries, comments, and concerns, ensuring a positive and transparent communication channel.
Safety Advocate: Adhere to all Club safety policies, identify and report unsafe conditions, and comply with SafeSport requirements, prioritizing the well-being of our athletes.
Flexibility and Adaptability: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Basketball Head Coach and Court Sports Manager, showcasing a proactive approach to club-related duties.
Team Collaboration: Participate in team bonding activities, contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.
What You’ll Bring
Basketball Expertise: A minimum of 4 years of basketball playing experience (school, club, collegiate, etc.) is required.
Coaching Background: Coaching experience, especially with youth, is preferred.
Certifications: Current CPR AED/First Aid and SafeSport certifications are required or must be obtained within the first three months of employment.
Safety First: Prioritize safety in decision-making, consistently enforcing health and safety codes in court areas.
Customer-Centric Approach: Provide excellent customer service, adapting to unassigned shifts when needed and effectively addressing member inquiries.
Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest techniques and rules in competitive basketball, demonstrating commitment to personal and professional advancement.
Organizational Skills: Strong planning, supervisory, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
Tech Savviness: Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and TeamSnap.
