Job Title:
Forklift Driver
Position Summary:
This position performs all routine forklift driving activities in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety policies to ensure maximum productivity and efficiently produce high-quality wines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates a powered forklift to move half-ton grape bins throughout the production area under limited supervision.
- Offloads full half-ton grape bins from flatbed trucks, stacks, and stages them for processing.
- Unloads half-ton grape bins into processing equipment and onto grape bin sanitation equipment.
- Unloads half-ton bins off sanitation equipment, stacks, and stages them.
- Loads flatbed trucks with stacked sanitized bins for future production.
- Loads half-ton bins of grape pomace into trailers for proper transportation.
- Conducts forklift checklists, performs minor servicing and maintenance of powered lifts, including fueling, washing, greasing, etc.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures, including timely and accurate reporting of work-related injuries and illnesses to the supervisor.
- Promotes safety awareness to coworkers, advises the supervisor of any unsafe acts and conditions, wears required personal protective equipment, and follows confined space protocol where necessary.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
- Basic math calculations to complete written work orders.
- Forklift certification is required, training will be conducted on-site.
- Ability to work as a team with all winery employees.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including graveyard shifts.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
- Working conditions can be cold/hot, wet, slippery, and noisy in certain areas of the winery.
- Flexible hours, weekends, and long hours will be required during grape harvest.
- Handling hazardous materials and frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, dragging wine hoses, and bending are required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
