PRESCHOOL TEACHER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The person selected for this position will be responsible for twelve children between the ages of two and six years old. This person will assist the director and meet state qualifications for assistant director to fill in for the director in case of absence.
QUALIFICATIONS
The person selected for this position must have a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education units and provide original transcripts of units including:
3 units Child Development
3 units Child, Family, & Community
3 Units Preschool Learning and 3 units of ECE Curriculum.
The person selected must be able to meet the requirement of California licensing including passing the criminal record clearance. This person must be able to display good judgment, must be sensitive and mature, and must be able to communicate positively with both children and adults. This person must have a positive attitude and provide leadership and stability for our program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Planning, supervising, and implementing curriculum for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
2. Gearing the program to meet the needs of individual children with concern to each student’s interests, skills, handicaps, individual styles, and pace in learning.
3. Treating each child with dignity and respect.
4. Helping each child become aware of his role as a leader, a follower, and as an integral member of a group.
5. Being responsible for the order, arrangement, appearance, décor, and positive learning environment of the classroom.
6. Performing, and initialing when complete, daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks to help keep our school a healthy place to be. There are cleaning tasks for each classroom and shared areas of the school as well as opening and closing tasks.
7. Assisting the director in explaining our program to visitors.
8. Assisting the director in ensuring the smooth coordination of all classroom activities and staff/student relation.
9. Participating in monthly staff meetings and other recommended training.
10. Assisting in the effective use of volunteers and student teachers.
11. Maintaining positive parent/school relations and communications.
12. Attend meetings and conferences appropriate for preschool educators, sometimes as a representative of Munchkin University, and return to share with staff what you learned.
