What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Site Supervisor position at Muncie Habitat for Humanity?
Purpose:
Muncie Habitat for Humanity is seeking a detailed, efficient, energetic, and personable individual for the position of Site Supervisor. The Site Supervisor is responsible for leading and working alongside unskilled and skilled volunteers to accomplish tasks that support the construction program for the affiliate. This is an opportunity for a person with residential construction experience to apply his/her skills to help support a successful non-profit organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management including volunteers (unskilled and skilled), homeowners, and subcontractors.
- Manages and coordinates all activity on the construction site.
- Responsible for the organization of the site: materials, equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Assisting the Construction Director in developing the project deadlines and executing project plans for supervising volunteers on new and rehab homes.
- Working collaboratively with the Construction Director & Construction Team to assist in managing all aspects of the affiliate building program including maintaining safety and security practices.
- Assigns tasks to volunteers based on skill levels and aptitude.
- Continually encourages and nurtures volunteers during the work period.
- Prepares the work site for volunteer workdays.
- Oversee workmanship, effective communication, and quality control for projects.
- Supporting and improving internal processes and systems.
- Evaluate new initiatives, process, or techniques as assigned.
- Makes lists of tasks for every house project, and uses the lists to assign tasks to volunteers.
- Organizes tools and materials before and after workdays.
- Checks deliveries against purchase orders and communicates with Construction Director.
- Secures materials against theft and damage from weather and heavy equipment.
Position Qualifications and Experience:
Education :
- High School Diploma required
- College degree or course work a plus
Experience:
- Some supervision experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience in Residential Construction
Skills:
- Have experience with residential new and rehab construction.
- Ability to work with and supervise a wide variety of people with a range of different skills and abilities.
- Comfortable with work Saturdays on a regular basis.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and be willing and capable of performing outdoor/indoor physical duties under all weather conditions.
- Desires to be a part of something greater than themselves.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
