Position Title: Clothing Room Assistant
Reports to: Clothing Room Manager
FLSA Classification: Hourly, Part-time, Non-Exempt

PROGRAM STATEMENT: The New Life Center is to provide vocational training in a Biblically based environment. This program is designed to bring the discipline of “real life” experience through the development of good work-habits - as to time and relationships and the teaching of job skills. It gives a man purpose for living, provides a means for him to contribute something of himself into the program and to grow in leadership and responsibility. To give him the tools needed to become a productive citizen in the community.
Position Summary: The Clothing Room Assistant assists the Clothing Room Manager by preparing clothing, accessories and other items to be sent to Attic Window Thrift Stores.
Repsonisbilities and Essential Functions:
· Provide daily supervision, guidance and direction to the employees, residents, and volunteers in the clothing room under the direction of Clothing Room Manager.
· Orient and train new employees, volunteers and residents assigned to the clothing room under the direction of Clothing Room Manager.
· Assist the Clothing Room Manager by preparing clothing to be sent to Attic Window Thrift Stores by filling store requisitions.
· Responsible to help prepare donated clothing, shoes, purses, linens, and accessories for Attic Window Stores.
· Responsible for training in each area of the clothing room, I. E. sorting, boxing, tagging, putting items in cubby, and logging daily totals.
· Works closely with Clothing Room Manager efforts to keep the stores stocked with requisitioned merchandise. Must add items to requisition when stores call in additional items.
· Must be capable of operating clothing room area in absence of Clothing Room Manager.
· Must learn and maintain a thorough knowledge of clothing room…start to finish.
· Maintain clean work areas by cleaning at the end of your shift.
Necessary Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Must be able to lift/carry up to 25-50 pounds.
· Must be able to read small print and see stains on clothes. Must be able to smell bad clothes.
· Must be available to work different shifts or extra hours in absence of other personnel.
· Ability to exhibit good decision making skills within the assigned task.
· Use time clock properly and communicate to Clothing Room Manager when clock is not working or if a mistake is made clocking in or out.
· Call Clothing Room Manager in case of sickness or emergency.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
· Must be able to bend and twist.
· Must be able to climb stairs.
Required Education/Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Communicate effectively.
· Participate in a local church community.
Background Investigation and Drug Testing:
· After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a background investigation.
· Muncie Mission Ministries may request the successful applicant to submit to and pass a drug and /or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment. All employees must sign and adhere to MMM Drug and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
Hours:
Generally Monday through Saturday, hours arranged by Clothing Room Manager /Director of New Life Center and approved by President/CEO.
Clothing Room Assistant position is an hourly – at will position.
