As the Building Maintenance Technician will oversee and manage third-party vendors performing contracted facility services while also handling minor maintenance task to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the buildings and their systems. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in facility maintenance and vendor management. You will act as the primary point of contact for the facility vendors and ensure all services meet Purdue University standards, budgets and timelines. This position performs a variety of repair and maintenance duties on building structures and systems for Operations and Maintenance. These activities include but are not limited to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, plastering, and locksmithing. Respond to and prioritize work orders. Troubleshoot to diagnose problems and determine repair or maintenance needs.
This position will be located at the Purdue Indianapolis campus.

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Needed:
- High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
- Four (4) years of general maintenance work experience required
- A valid US or Canadian drivers' license
- Familiarity with University policies regarding building maintenance and security
- Basic knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, painting, plastering and locksmith fields
- Mechanical aptitude and leadership skills helpful
- Competencies for this position are work standards and productivity, communication, interpersonal and intercultural relations, decision making, and dependability; may include financial, coaching, delegation, and planning
- Ability to:
- read and understand blueprints, schematics and written and verbal instructions. Perform basic math functions
- communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers, and customers
- lift and move up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, stand, walk or stoop extensively
- work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds
