The Application Developer Guidewire will be a critical part of our development team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our complex legacy applications and systems using the Guidewire suite of technologies and other technologies when appropriate. They will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business needs. This role requires deep technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and guide our support teams. The Application Developer will mainly support our Guidewire Policy, Guidewire Billing, Guidewire Digital and surrounding application assets and execute assigned development efforts. They will partner with the respective Product Manager, Business Owner, and Solution Architect to support the overall Policy administration strategy for HSB.
Functions:
- Work as a member of a strong product team supporting project initiatives in the Guidewire Policy and Billing space. Specifies, designs, codes, and takes responsibility for large or complex systems. Supports appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensures they are applied effectively and along with standard. Supports policy and standards for solution development projects. Support the benefits of addressing security issues. Supports the design of system architecture and related interfaces. Supports/Contributes into the integration build. Participates in and promotes coding quality practices and standards.
- Work with support teams to ensure current service levels are being met for Guidewire application suite including Policy, Billing and Claims. Interface with Business customers to ensure the best possible operation, performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Collaborate with product managers and business owners to design features, prioritize tasks, and provide realistic code estimates and timelines. Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code leveraging agreed or established specifications and standards. Maintain/create and/or direct the completion of the required business and/or technical documentation supporting the product needs, including documentation for security and operational compliance. Manage development activities ensuring code quality via code reviews; release management; guide/mentor developers; assist solving problems; drive for continued improvements.
- Provide and support analysis and problem solving of incidents.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in building/leading/developing/working in software development setting
- 2 years of experience in Guidewire software development
- Ace Certification in Guidewire InsuranceSuite and Digital
- Understanding of product models
- Working experience of integrations in Guidewire products(ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, Jutro)
- Design and development experience in Guidewire using Webservices, SOA, Plug-ins, Messaging, API, EDGE API, and associated technologies
- Guidewire configuration skills – APD, Rules, PCFs, entity extensions, product administration
- Prior Guidewire self-managed and Guidewire Cloud implementation experience
- API management experience in Azure APIM or other similar API gateways
- Exposure to Cloud Infrastructure and Services
- Strong JAVA/JEE and SQL experience
- Defining and exposing micro-services
- Experience with large scale transformation projects
- Experience working in a product team structure using common principles and practices
- Experience working within the primary insurance industry preferred
- Experience in leading (directly or indirectly) a team of onsite-offshore development resources required
