What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Events Coordinator position at Municipal Employees' Retirement System of Michigan?
Event Planning & Strategy
- Develops comprehensive event strategy, in partnership with the Business Development Manager and Communications & Retirement Strategies Director, that aligns with MERS goals and objectives.
- Identifies target audiences and tailors events to meet their needs and preferences
- Researches and recommends event venues, themes, and formats that enhance the attendee experience
- Creates detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for each event
- Coordinates all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, and accommodations
- Manages vendor relationships and negotiates contracts to ensure best value and quality of services while adhering to established budget
- Oversees event setup, execution, and teardown to ensure seamless operations
- Communicates with key stakeholders routinely regarding event progress, open-items, and strategy
Marketing & Communications
- Develops and implements marketing strategies to promote events and drive attendance
- Coordinates with customer experience and design teams to create promotional materials, including invitations, eBlasts, social media posts, and other materials to drive engagement and attendance
- Tracks and analyzes event metrics to measure success and identify areas for improvement
- Prepares post-event reports summarizing key insights and attendee feedback
Customer Support
- Fosters strong working relationships with internal and external teams to facilitate successful delivery of event objectives
- Works in partnership with functional areas concerning plans, activities, projects and other work-related activities
Other
- Continually update the Business Development Manager concerning all plans, activities, projects, and other work-related activities
- Participates in special projects as required, and other duties as assigned
- Participates in meetings, conferences, and training seminars as required
Knowledge of:
- Event management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficiency in event planning software such as Cvent
Skill in:
- Planning and organization
