Market Development Representative

Responsible for assisting Member municipal natural gas systems in the marketing and promotion of natural gas utilization in a specific region. Activities include planning, setting objectives, and the development of programs such as rebate and financing programs and effective communication plans. Programs, projects, and services focus on assisting and interacting with key partners in the gas appliance supply chain (i.e., property developers, builders, Plumbers, HVAC dealers, appliance retailers, engineers and architects, and retail customers) to promote the utilization of natural gas applications and services. Market focuses are the residential, commercial and agriculture markets and includes educating customers and key partners on the benefits of natural gas. In addition, assisting in the development, utilization, and promotion of other Gas Authority services including Natural Gas Connection, the Emerging Technology Program, and Customer Growth Planning as requested by Members. Sales skills and interpersonal skills are critical for this role. This position requires a willingness to develop an understanding of natural gas applications and some business background. It will include training in energy and municipal rates & analysis, and gas applications. The Market Development Representative position supports Member cities and serves multiple Member accounts.

Position Description | Principal Accountabilities

(1) Develop Critical Relationships – Develop and maintain business

relationships with Member city personnel, and key regional customer

groups, i.e., developers, builders, contractors, distributors, regional associations, consumers, agriculture.

(2) Communicating the Benefits of Natural Gas Applications – Develop an understanding of residential and commercial natural gas applications to promote natural gas among key customer groups and partners.

(3) Municipal Government – Work with key municipal government leaders,

officials, and staff, and communicate the benefits of utility programs and

natural gas projects

(4) Energy Marketing Programs – Assist in the development and execution of utility

residential energy programs [rebate, special rates, promotions,

communications & advertising]

(5) Natural Gas Line Extension Projects – Assist in communicating the results of

natural gas line extension project reports to all key stakeholders

(6) Report preparation – Assist in the preparation & development of marketing program and project reports for Member cities

(7) Reporting – Communicate regional results to Member cities and Gas Authority, present Member and regional results about specific projects or programs in oral format and written reports and presentations

(8) Team Contributions – Work in cooperation with regional team

members to achieve regional goals; attend and participate in

regional team meetings and organizational meetings

(9) Travel – Travel is required to perform job duties; minimal overnight
