Midnight Auteur was born from the successful partnership between The Ramble Hotel in Denver and Death & Co, which began almost six years ago when the storied bar opened its second location in the lobby of The Ramble Hotel. With a shared intention among founders to build and operate hotels that immerse guests fully and seamlessly between social spaces and retreat – offering a setting fit for both celebration and sanctuary – our new hospitality company was created. The cocktail anchored experience at The Ramble Hotel, one in which the lobby is interchangeable with the bar, resulted in numerous accolades and awards, including Esquire’s Best Bars in America in 2019, North America’s 50 Best Bars in 2022 and noted by Condé Nast Traveler as ‘the hotel for people who are sick of other hotels.’

As a company we hold a deep, and slightly obsessive, reverence for the all-day lobby bar, which is really the foundation of Midnight Auteur. We love the idea of immersing our team and our guests in a vibrant, celebratory experience that only a hotel lobby bar can appropriately capture. The community created and hospitality shared over a coffee or cocktail is something we’re passionate about, while remaining equally committed to providing a luxury respite for our hotel guests.

The Role

The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for executing the operational strategy for the Rooms Department, which includes Housekeeping, Front Desk, Valet, and Engineering. This role focuses on implementing, leading, and reinforcing Midnight Auteur core values within these departments. As a leader, the Front Desk Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring an exceptional guest experience, managing team performance, and contributing to the financial success of the Rooms Department.

Additionally, the Front Desk Supervisor collaborates with the Director of Rooms to support the Rooms Department team, particularly during the early stages of the hotel’s operation.

This position requires active engagement and hands-on participation in the daily operations of the Rooms Department. It is not a management role confined to an office but rather one that involves being present and involved in all facets of the department to ensure smooth operations and uphold standards.

What You Will Do

  • Supervise and lead the Front Desk team to ensure seamless guest service operations, including check-in, check-out, and guest inquiries.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Rooms and department leads to refine and maintain service standards for the Front Desk and related areas.

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of Front Desk team members, ensuring alignment with company values and service expectations.

  • Foster a positive team culture by coaching, developing, and motivating team members for personal growth and future advancement opportunities.

  • Monitor and contribute to the financial performance of the Front Desk, including managing labor costs, upselling, and implementing strategies to drive revenue.

  • Maintain and uphold brand standards by ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, personalized guest experiences.

  • Encourage team members to use their judgment and creativity to provide genuine and memorable interactions for guests.

  • Act as the primary liaison between guests and other departments to resolve challenges and ensure exceptional service delivery.

  • Develop meaningful connections within the local community to enhance guest experiences and establish partnerships that align with the hotel’s vision.

  • Continuously monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Career Experiences

  • You have been a previous Front Desk Agent or Front Desk Supervisor in an upper-upscale or luxury hotel for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • You have worked for a boutique-style hotel company or independent hotel group and may have led or participated in restaurant or hotel openings.
  • Bachelor’s degree: or related relevant years of experience is required.
  • Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication. Secondary language is great, but not required.
  • Technological literacy is a plus.

  • Leader of People: The Front Desk Supervisor title implies a certain standing and status, but this rank must be earned daily. Inspires and earns respect through actions, not through a job title – both with team members and guests.
  • A Strong Project Manager: Able to decisively prioritize, manage and execute a multitude of short-term tasks and long-term projects, daily and with speed. A good decision today is better than a perfect decision tomorrow. If a particular department falls short in their deliverables due, the Front Desk Supervisor steps in to complete, and improve upon the process for the next project.
  • Hospitable: Has a passion for hospitality (both inside and outside of the hotel) - which is the “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.”
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Able to develop rapport and find common ground with team members across all departments.
  • Results driven: Best-in-market departmental financial performance, guest reviews, employee satisfaction/retention should be the goal of our Front Desk Supervisor. Midnight Auteur will provide the tools and resources to accomplish this.
