Job Description
You have :
Minimum 3-year College or University diploma / degree in a field related to Emergency and Security Management, Disaster and Emergency Management, Property Management, Facilities Management, or a related field OR at least 8 years of relevant experience in Facilities Management
Comprehensive knowledge of security and emergency management principles, including system design, with a solid understanding of emerging trends and best practices
Project management experience with a focus on scheduling and budgeting
Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and design spaces that optimize budget and space, with experience reviewing detailed construction documents with technical terminology
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong communication and facilitation skills for technical assistance, policy drafting, plan development and managing emergency and security plans
Demonstrated attention to detail in tracking and addressing issues in inspections, audits, and reporting, with expertise in developing plans, standards, templates, and RFP documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with independent technical judgment
Proficiency in MS Office applications and facilities-related software and databases
Ability to travel, and hold a valid Ontario “G” Class Driver’s License
Ability to work outside of normal business hours, as required
Nice to have :
Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act
What you will do :
Develop and implement MPAC's emergency management program, including site-specific plans for employee safety, security, fire safety, and responses to threats like weather, natural disasters, pandemics, and external disruptions
Manage the corporate security program, including workplace security, emergency response, and compliance inspections
Investigate security breaches (e.g., theft, disruptions, threats, fires) and design / manage security procedures, including access control, to ensure policy compliance
Coordinate security related installations for capital projects, implement emergency / security policies, and oversee ID / security card systems
Partner with HR to develop and deliver training programs, including drills and e-learning for employee preparedness
Participate in risk, vulnerability, and threat assessments to identify hazards and integrate findings into security, emergency management, and policy development
Evaluate emergency plans, security protocols, and recovery strategies for effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement to reduce risk and enhance efficiency
Research and benchmark security and emergency management best practices, recommending improvements as needed
Monitor and ensure compliance with security and emergency management requirements and participate in the coordination of strike response planning in the event of strikes or work disruptions
Respond to enquiries from employees and external agencies, and participate in emergency management committees
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to travel to each of our 26 office locations, at least once annually.
