This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION: City Hall 632 W 6th Avenue
***Starting pay does not exceed the midpoint of the displayed pay range***Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager this position will be responsible for receiving and reviewing schedule changes, auditing leave and attendance records entered in our time collection system in accordance with current Collective Bargaining Agreements, Municipal Personnel Rules and Policies and Procedures. Researches variances in the timekeeping application, reviews and corrects time and leave errors as needed. Processes leave adjustments, donations, and cash-in for Municipal Employees. Assist with the weekly on-boarding of new municipal staff, provides training to employees with timekeeping functions to ensure accurate time recording. Supports all Municipal employees and departments with regard to recording time. Assists in the development and training materials for Municipal Employees as new processes are being implemented. Assists all areas of the payroll department as needed and assigned
OR
Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar discipline and three (3) years of experience in human resources or payroll, administration support or similar administrative responsibilities.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar discipline and one (1) year of experience in human resources or payroll, administration support or similar administrative responsibilities.
Preferences:
- Experience with ERP Human Resources and Finance applications

Military Service Interview Preference:
Veterans who wish to be considered for an interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D, must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran or similar document. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
An individual currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wishes to be considered for an interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application. Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment. The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
