TRANSIT TRAINER (Transit Shift Supervisor) - Range 15 / NON

Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. 

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday - Mainly Day Shift. 
LOCATION: 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive

The position is responsible for the development and delivery of the PTD education, skills, and training programs to ensure the department's compliance of local, state, and federal regulations. Emphasis will be focused on the department's Operations staff (specifically bus operator training); and will work in conjunction with other PTD staff to deliver training as it relates to most-current practices of prevention, safety, and security. Outline and develop training programs to provide education and skills to new and existing department staff. Responsible for producing and maintaining written processes, coordinating and delivering training and education activities, and researching new and advanced new and advanced methodologies to be implemented for the benefit of staff and customers. On-board new employees into the department to welcome them and train on relevant department policies and procedures. Perform other required duties as assigned. 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

OR

Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and five (5) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

OR

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and three (3) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity.

• Satisfactory drug screening at time of hire.

• Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a (P) passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction at time of hire. Applicants with a Restriction of "L-Vehicles Without Air Brake Systems Only", “N-NO Class A and B Passenger Vehicle”, and “”P-No passengers in CMV bus” are not eligible.
  
  

For positions that require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), applicants who do not possess a CDL must have the following:

• A Valid Driver’s License at time of application.

• A Valid State of Alaska Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) at time of hire.

• Must obtain the required CDL and required endorsements along with any restrictions within one hundred eighty (180) days of hire.

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicants Alaska driver's license and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states if the Alaska driver's license was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history. If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted background check. A background check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment, and a drug screen. 

Military Service Interview Preference:

Veterans or who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The attached documentation must show an honorable discharge or general (under honorable conditions) discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.

Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules 3.30.031 D must attach proof of current service to the application.  Proof of current service can be shown by submission of a statement of service which, at a minimum, shows full name, date of birth, Social Security Number, date service began, branch of service, rank, name of command providing the information, and unit of assignment.  The statement of service must be on a form or letterhead of the individual’s command organization and show the name, signature, title and contact information for the signer providing the statement of service.
