We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified accountant with extensive experience in month-end and year-end reporting, sales tax analysis, banking reconciliations, and payroll management and execution. The ideal candidate brings great experience using different ERPs and/or general ledger systems and brings both resource flexibility and intellectual curiosity to the workplace.

DESCRIPTION:
Munro Companies is the parent company for Munro, a manufacturer of pumps, pump stations, pump controls and pump accessories, selling through wholesale distribution, nationwide; as well as Munro Supply, an industrial distributor and pump service and repair center, serving mining, energy, municipal, construction and irrigation markets in the Rocky Mountain region.
The Accountant position is responsible for maintaining the financial operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to provide proper checks and balances, and ensures that all reports comply with GAAP and/or IFRS. The position is responsible for cash management, sales tax analysis and reporting, and risk mitigation.
JOB DUTIES:
- Primary
- Work with CFO to prepare annual Budgets and integrate into ERP
- Analyze and report on company financial data
- Bank balances and reconciliations
- Managing and conducting transfers between different accounts
- Interface with credit card processor
- Prepare tax returns
- Track fixed assets
- Prepare property taxes
- Prepare 1099s
- Act as primary contact for payroll processing service and provide employee hours
- 401(K) administration
- Additional:
- Stay current on state and local sales tax requirements and report to management as relevant
- Keep abreast of innovations and opportunities related to financial reporting and general business efficiencies
- Ad hoc duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience - 5 Years of Accounting experience
- Experience with G/L entries, closing the books, month end and year end financial statements
- Exposure to Sales Tax by state calculations and reporting
- Payroll reporting
- Comfortable working with different ERP solutions, ideally knowledgeable of Acctvantage
- Education: BA/BS in Accounting Preferred
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to speak English aloud and be understood by others
- Cognitive abilities – must be able to perform problem solving, decision making, and organizational cognitive functions. Must be able to interpret data. Must be able to read and write in English. Must be able to understand and implement strategic business functions. Must be able to communicate well with customers & colleagues to relay and understand complex ideas and instructions.
ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- CPA would be a plus, but not required. We would assist if you are wanting to earn or maintain your CPA Licensure.
LOCATION: Grand Junction, Colorado
EDUCATION LEVEL: BA/BS in Accounting Preferred
TRAVEL REQUIRED: <5% of time expected to be traveling
COMPENSATION: $50K-60K
