What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Murata Eyecare?
Busy Optometry practice looking for a FULL TIME Monday- Friday 8:30-6pm Optometric Technician to join our team. Only candidates with past experience working as a technician in an Optometry or Ophthalmology office will be considered at this time. Must be experiences taking retinal imaging, doing contact lens fittings, and explaining insurance benefits.
As an Optometric Technician you will be the front-line associate to provide the patient with a pleasant experience as soon as they walk in the office. We are looking for someone with previous experience working in an Optometry or Ophthalmology office at this time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Working up patients, taking a full history, reviewing medications, assisting in any paperwork they have not finished on the online portal
- Performing preliminary vision testing, including but not limited to: performing an auto refraction, measuring intraocular pressure, and measuring visual acuity.
- Performing and training new contact lens patients on the process of inserting and removing contact lenses.
- Perform additional vision and medical testing: OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scans, Optos (Ultra-Wide Digital Retinal Imaging), Visual Fields, Fundus Photography, and administering eye drops
- Once exam completed assist in submitting patient's billing to the insurance companies using online portals
- Helping to answer phones along with schedule appointments
- Obtains patient information, verifying and confirming insurance eligibility.
- Checks patients in and out of the office and collects copays and other payments
- Establish and maintain excellent customer service.
