Shop Lead / Small Engine Mechanic (Full-Time)

The DC Shop Lead/Mechanic plays a critical role in assisting the DC in the day-to-day repair operations, customer service and store support. This position requires strong mechanical skills/knowledge, strong communication skills, learning new systems for parts ordering, and the ability to coordinate the flow of the DC Service-related products to and from our store locations. 

The Small Engine Mechanic position is essential to the success of the service area along with the growth of all aspects of the power equipment department. The mechanic is responsible for exceptional service repairs on both customers and Murdoch’s owned equipment. Outstanding problem-solving and diagnostic skills are required with little or no supervision.

Requirements

As a Murdoch's Team Member in this role, you will...

• receive on-the-job and online training for certification.
• provide your customers with the know-how on proper maintenance and operation of equipment - everything from lawn mowers and snow blowers to chainsaws and generators, plus much more.
• perform routine small engine maintenance and repair.
• determine the cost-effectiveness of repairing versus replacing.
• provide outstanding problem-solving and diagnostic skills to repair and service power equipment.
• navigate the computer to look up and order parts.

As a Murdochian in this role, you must...

• be knowledgeable of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine operation, functionality, and components.
• have proven mechanic ability. (2 years' experience preferred)
• demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

• Occasionally assist in other areas of operations in the DC when needed including operating a forklift. (on-site certification)
