What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lunchroom/Playground Aide (part-time) position at Murphy Elementary School?
LUNCHROOM / PLAYGROUND AIDE –(Part time 3hrs/day)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Experience with young people.
- Prior experience in a school setting is desired.
- Ability to demonstrate keen observation competence.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Playground
- Supervise students at playtime and maintain a harmonious atmosphere on the playground.
- Organizes group games and activities.
- Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
- Takes part in in-service training programs.
- Directs movement of groups to and from the playground.
- Displays initiative during supervision duties.
- Maintains student confidentiality.
- Carries a first aid pack provided by the school nurse.
- Reports problems and accidents.
- Follows established safety procedures.
- Directs students to keep hands and feet to oneself.
Cafeteria
- Supervises students using their utensils safely.
- Supervises students in appropriate cafeteria behavior.
Including:
*use of a quiet voice
*keeping hands and feet to oneself
*Use of safe movement
- Provides assistance in the maintenance of a safe and orderly cafeteria environment.
- Is sensitive to students requiring individual or special needs.
- Dresses appropriately in a manner suitable for the job.
