Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. The primary duty of the Manufacturing Engineer is to support our RoadForce Manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Engineer functions as a plant resource to ensure that procedures and programs are in place to support manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly operations.
- Assists purchasing with material and parts procurement when necessary.
- Acts as a liaison with customers regarding quality issues of body components.
- Investigate and perform Root Cause Analysis when quality concerns are identified.
- Participate in engineering design reviews for new products and processes.
- Provide technical assistance and training to customers and internal personnel for understanding of quality and assembly requirements.
- Lead and support documentation such as feasibility reviews, production control plans, safe launch plans, work instructions, etc. as required.
- Create and maintain inspection files and documentation in support of product quality guidelines.
- Provide analytical support to process owners regarding product/process quality issues.
- Identify and facilitate improvement initiatives utilizing customer/internal feedback to help identify opportunities to resolve quality/production issues.
- Creates mechanical drawings and models using CAD software.
- Specifies parts and materials for manufactured products, creates bills of material for manufactured products.
- Creates work instructions for work stations and performs time studies of production processes as assigned.
- Ability to operate various fabrication equipment, assemble components, and build truck equipment.
- Performs all work in safe manner while wearing PPE and maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- One to three years of experience in machining, fabrication, assembly, and/or manufacturing at an OEM or Tier One supplier.
- Understanding of APQP and other quality management tools.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret GD&T, engineering drawings and specifications, and translate into part and process requirements.
- Must possess PC base computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with AutoCad Inventor, Power BI, Minitab, or equivalent software packages.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate team efforts and work under minimal supervision.
