Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Mobile Service Apprentice. This position will perform light maintenance work under close supervision at customer locations. Under guidance and supervision, develops relationships with customers to achieve labor sales quota and increase sales to assigned accounts in a designated territory. Learns to analyze customer operations for opportunities to increase service sales in the given territory. First stage of training for Mobile Service Technician status.
- Performs maintenance type work (i.e. preventive maintenance, inspections, light electrical repairs, etc.) under supervision.
- Assists Mobile Service Technician/Journeyman/Master Technician in heavy-duty truck inspection and repair.
- Under supervision, learns to coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment. Interacts with Service Advisor and Mobile Service Technician/Journeyman/Master Technician to learn proper work scheduling of all mobile maintenance business.
- Learns to advise customer of needed service work, as well as suggests additional labor, parts, and body shop sales whenever possible (i.e. Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related service work, etc.).
- Under supervision, creates and closes repair orders in the MHC business system to document the repair work performed and the time spent completing the maintenance type work. Completes paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed.
- Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary. Ensures proper safety, care, and maintenance of company vehicles assigned to the apprentice. Reports any damage to company or customer equipment or property immediately to supervisor.
- Maintains favorable relations with customers.
- Responsible for ensuring tools and parts inventory are kept accurate for service truck.
- With Mobile Service Technician/Journeyman/Master Technician, calls upon key accounts (current and prospective) regularly. Learns the sales process for Introducing items such as preventive maintenance, new products and promotions, reemphasizes existing products and services and provide literature as necessary.
- Assists with achieving labor sales objectives and quota for accounts assigned to the Mobile Service Technician/Journeyman/Master Technician.
- Participates in training to stay abreast of new technology and to gain knowledge and experience in the MHC Mobile Service program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Class A or B CDL and DOT medical card may be required depending on the size of the mobile service vehicle.
