Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our Offshore Operations Engineering team. The ideal candidate will specialize in brownfield projects, providing technical support to maintain, modify, and optimize Murphy's operated Gulf of Mexico offshore facilities. This role is critical for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our existing infrastructure in the offshore oil and gas industry.
This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Support : Support the Offshore Operations Engineering team to identify, plan, and execute structural upgrades and repairs to existing facilities
- Structural Analysis & Design : Perform detailed structural analyses and develop solutions to support operational needs, including topside modifications and facility interfaces around subsea tiebacks
- Operations Collaboration : Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to address day-to-day structural engineering challenges, ensuring minimal disruption to offshore activities
- Problem Resolution : Provide rapid and effective engineering solutions for operational issues and structural failures, prioritizing safety and regulatory compliance
- Technical Documentation : Prepare and review design reports, technical specifications, and work scopes tailored to operational constraints
- Compliance & Standards : Ensure all designs and modifications meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company guidelines (e.g., API, ISO, ABS, DNV)
- Safety Leadership : Promote and integrate HSE principles into all engineering activities and project planning
Qualifications / Requirements
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous / extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
