What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist-PRN position at Murphy Rehabilitation & Nursing?
This position will greet and assist visitors, families and residents; answer telephone, providing information, taking and delivering messages, and paging as required; type, file, adhere to facility policies and procedures; perform clerical duties associated with position. The person holding this position is delegated responsiblity for carrying out the assigned duties and responsiblities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policy and procedures.
Major Work Activities:
- Answer telephone with the appropriate greeting between the hours of 9am and 9pm excluding 30 minutes for lunch.
- Take accurate and approriate mesages while attempting to identify the caller to direct the call appropriately.
- Distribute messages to staff mailboxes or other designated areas as needed,
- Monitor main facility fax/copier and distribute in the appropriate mailboxes.
- Provide general information regarding the facility and its services to visitors or telephone inquiries, when unable to route the interested party to the Admissions Coordinator or back up team. No inquiry call shall go unanswered.
- Sign out resident fund money as requested from resident. Keep receitpts for all transactions.
- Accept payments. Write receipts for all transactions.
- Order supplies as directed via the online webside for McKesson
- Greet visitors with eye contact and a smile while directing them to the approriate area,
- Maintain the entrance area and waiting room assuring it is well lit, clean and odor free,.
- Distribute and collect employee applications.
- Ensure policy regarding employee phone calls is followed.
- Perform clerical duties such as typing and filing for supervisor/administrator.
- Follow the policy of no eting, drinking or chewing gum while at the receptionist desk.
- Follow HIPPA guidelines in regard to the patient's right to privacy.
- Attend madatory in-services when scheduled.Maintain visitor sign-in board, assuring forms are always available.
- Secure desk area and other equipment at the receptionist desk before leaving for the day.
- Accept any other duties assisnged by supervisor.
- Input demographic information retrieved from new referrals into AHT.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Run errands to the bank, physician offices, etc as needed.
- Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and keeps appropriate people informed of problems.
- Completes assigned tasks in a manner to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Demonstrates basic and advanced departmental competencies.
- Attends required meetings as determined by the Department Director.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of Standard Precautions and Personal Protective Equipment.
- Demonstrated adherence to a professional appearance in accordance with the facility dress code.
- completes mandatory requirements as below, but not limited to:
a. Mandatory Education: Resident Rights/Abuse; Safety; Disaster Management; Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens; Corporate Compliance; Customer Service; HIPPA
b. Obtains annuals TB testing according to facility policy/practice.
