Position Summary:
The equipment operator/forklift is responsible for the safe operation of a forklift at a recycling facility efficiently and safely. This position is a first shift position with a start time of 8am and end time of 5pm.
Your Role:
- Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspection following Company policy to ensure windows, lights, and mirrors are clean. Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include forklifts and other equipment using proper safety standards.
- Continuously monitor recycling for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials
- Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize downtown; clean tracks or wheels on equipment, as needed.
- Perform and document minor service on equipment, referring more complicated mechanical issues to the Maintenance Shop for repair.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the work area is clean after each shift, including screens.
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Desirable, although not essential, requirements:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 2 years experience as an equipment operator in a plant environment; or 5 years related experience which includes training in a plant environment.
- Experience operating a forklift
- Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner
- Good follow-up through the ability
- Ability to adhere to a work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.
