Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications Tower Top Hand to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working at heights to build, inspect, install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment on towers. You will collaborate closely with a team of technicians and tower hands to ensure the safe and efficient operation of telecommunications systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Climb telecommunications towers (average 250-300 ft) to install, maintain, and troubleshoot communication equipment, antennas, and ancillary devices.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on telecommunications towers and equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with industry safety standards at all times.
- Assist in the installation of coaxial, fiber optic, and other types of cabling.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to diagnose issues and carry out repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports and inventory logs.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment associated with tower servicing.
- Provide support during emergency service calls and outages, when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing training and safety meetings to improve skills and maintain certifications.
- Travel to various job sites as needed and assist in setting up job plans and schedules.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training or certifications related to telecommunications or tower work is a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in telecommunications tower servicing or related field.
- Experience in tower new builds is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with telecommunications equipment, including antennas, transmitters, and receivers.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
- Capable of working in various weather conditions and at heights.
