Server Job Description
Reports to: General Manager/Operations Managers
Summary of Position:
The purpose of the server position is to interact with our guests and ensure the guest has a great experience while dining at the restaurant. A server should be thoroughly familiar with our products, table service, cash control and sales techniques. Servers are expected to be attentive to our guests needs and make them feel welcome, comfortable and important. We encourage you to project your own personality, engage your guests and enjoy yourself while working.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage policies.
- Knowledgeable about the products we offer and be specific and descriptive when selling our products.
- Help patrons select food and beverages by presenting menu, offering suggestions, explaining specials, upselling, check-building and answering food preparation questions.
- Transmit orders to the bar and kitchen correctly using the POS system and inform kitchen of special dietary needs and special requests.
- Conclude the dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting guests to return.
- Participate in team service " help each other with duties, responsibilities and tables.
- Perform side duties including, but not limited to refilling condiments, cleaning and restocking duties specific to server department.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards as outlined in employee handbook.
- Carry out instructions given out by direct supervisor.
- Always adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the team effort and treat others the way you would like to be treated.
Qualifications:
- Customer service oriented.
- Previous restaurant and/or sales experience is preferred
- Possess general math skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be multi-task oriented, able to work under stress and exercises good judgement when dealing with guests and/or employee situations and concerns.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Be able to move around the entire restaurant for 8 hours or longer, per shift.
- Contribute to the team effort and treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits.
