The CEO represents the hospital in the surrounding service area communities and collaborates with stakeholders to meet healthcare needs effectively. A competitive candidate must possess strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, along with a deep understanding of healthcare administration and industry standards and trends. The future CEO must demonstrate a strong record of establishing, maintaining and leading effective teams while promoting a positive culture for the entire organization.
Successful CEO candidates must possess the following :
Qualifications :
- Served a minimum of five years as CEO of a comparably sized organization or a COO of a similar or larger organization with preferably a minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience and increasingly more responsible positions in the health care industry. Experience in, and appreciation for, the unique aspects of leading a health care organization in a rural environment
- Possess a Master's Degree in a related business or administrative field with a health care concentration preferred
- Significant experience in leading a non-profit hospital
- A degree from a four-year college or university as well as an MHA or MBA
- Considerable knowledge and experience in the management of fiscal and human resources, with an emphasis on the delivery of cost-effective health care
- Extensive knowledge of the trends in health care delivery, to include the application of financing and regulatory policy, program development as well as strategic planning and implementation
- A reputation as a team and relationship builder, particularly with medical staff, hospital board and community stakeholders
- A track record of being involved int he community and surrounding region in a manner that will engender respect and support for the hospital, as well as provide a mechanism for feedback
- Membership in the American College of Health Care Executives with attainment of Fellowship preferred
