The Director of Technology, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), is a key member of the IT Leadership team. This role serves as the subject matter expert and technological lead for all IT operations and systems that comprise the facility’s technical infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing server hardware, wired and wireless network infrastructure, storage solutions, device management, system upgrades and patching, communications, cybersecurity, system backups, and related systems. The Director plays a crucial role in modernizing and enhancing technology utilization to support the organization's mission and vision. Additionally, this position acts as the de-facto security expert, consistently monitoring vulnerabilities and seeking opportunities to enhance network and data security. The primary focus is to develop and integrate improved technological strategies and solutions while managing the support teams that deliver these solutions. The Director is responsible for planning and managing large projects and monitoring the completion of short- and long-term goals. Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders outside the team are essential to reach consensus, clarify issues, confirm compatibility with existing systems, and ensure end-user satisfaction.
Minimum Education
Bachelor of Science or related degree preferred. Five or more years of professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum Work Experience
Six or more years of applicable work experience required.
- Prior experience in a supervisory role.
- Hands-on experience with MS Active Directory is a must, including domain management skills (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File Sharing & Permissions, etc.).
- Extensive experience with server virtualization, preferably using VMWare (ESXi).
- Hands-on experience with network storage technologies, including SAN / NAS and connection via Fiber Channel and NFS (NetApp experience is a plus).
- Strong background in cybersecurity practices, including threat detection, vulnerability remediation, forensic examination of system logs, and overall security best practices.
- Experience in configuring, maintaining, and monitoring firewalls to protect the hospital's IT environment (Palo Alto and Pulse / Ivanti experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers, security patching, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
- Experience with email security, encryption, sender filtering, identifying phishing attempts, and scheduling phishing training campaigns within the organization.
- Experience administering on-premises Microsoft Exchange, as well as cloud-based Microsoft 365 Exchange management and configuration.
- Extensive experience providing technical support and ensuring optimal operation of healthcare IT systems and applications.
- Working knowledge of network infrastructure, including switch, router, access point, and wireless controller configuration to support LAN and WLAN environments.
